Our Depot Garden Is Here!
After several months of planning, digging, shopping, and planting, our Depot Garden is here! Thanks to a $2,000 grant from The People and Pollinators Action Network (PPAN)‘s Protect Our Pollinators Habitat Fund, together with the Crested Butte Botanic Gardens, the Crested Butte Parks and Recreation, and a handful of volunteers, we have transformed 900 square feet of the Depot’s grounds into a vibrant demonstration garden featuring native wildflowers, pollinator-friendly plants, interpretive signage, and seasonal color that bring the Festival’s mission to life year-round. Having this project come to fruition is a great success for our organization, our community, and our environment. Your support has helped turn this space into a year-round celebration of wildflowers, extending our mission beyond the Festival week, inspiring stewardship, and ensuring the beauty and ecological importance of native plants remain part of our community for generations to come! We look forward to our visitors experiencing the amazing native flowers that bring hummingbirds up close for sightings, as well as other wonders that can happen in a flourishing garden. We also hope to inspire CB residents to make changes in their own landscapes that will support our pollinators and ecosystems.

PPAN promotes pollinator-friendly land management and landscaping practices through education, engagement, and advocacy to preserve biodiversity and safeguard public health. PPAN is dedicated to creating healthy, sustainable ecosystems where people and pollinators can thrive now and for generations to come. PPAN’s Protect Our Pollinators Habitat Fund is a small grants program offering financial and educational resources to community organizations, businesses, governments, schools, farms, Indigenous Nations, public housing, and other institutions to support the development of healthy pollinator habitat. Through collaboration with pollinator and habitat experts, they provide support to successful applicants. This program is backed by the Colorado Pollinator License Plate Fund and other designated donations.
