Molly Murfee has served as the Executive Director of 1% for Open Space since 2005 – over half of its existence. She holds Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Arts degrees in literature with an emphasis on environmental writing and the incorporation of outdoor experiential education in academic programs. She served as a faculty with Colorado College and Colorado State University teaching outdoor adventure skills and environmental literature before teaching with the Audubon Expedition Institute program accredited by Lesley University in Boston, Massachusetts. There she taught for Environmental Studies and Environmental Education bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in experientially based field situations from United States to Mexico to Canada. Molly is also a professional freelance writer with over 300 published articles predominately revolving around human connections in nature.
