Michelle Bivens
Executive Director
In 1984, my husband, Pat, introduced me to Crested Butte by accident, when we tried to escape the deluge of a heavy summer rainstorm while camping in Almont. We returned almost every summer to mountain bike the incredible peaks and valleys of this beautiful place, and in 2007, we moved from Boulder for good. And I mean “good†in every sense of the word!
I was lucky enough to become the Director of the Wildflower Festival in 2007, and I’ll celebrate my fifth festival this year. I love connecting people to this special place, and seeing their love affair with Crested Butte grow stronger every year.
In typical CB style, I support my mountain habit with multiple endeavors: working as the Director of the Crested Butte Wildflower Festival, and as a grant writer for High Country Citizens’ Alliance, and previously for the Office for Resource Efficiency. I serve on the Boards of the Paradise Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) and the Chamber of Commerce. My passion is working for environmental conservation and stewardship, preservation of wild places, and animals….and of course- mountain biking and skiing!
Prior to moving to Crested Butte, I was the Environmental Coordinator for the Department of Housing at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and the Energy Projects Manager at the Center for Resource Conservation, formerly the Boulder Energy Conservation Center.I earned an MS in Building Systems Engineering and a BA in Environmental Biology from CU Boulder.
