2023 Poster & Artist

Carol Ann Rasmussen

We are pleased to introduce you to our 2023 Festival Poster Artist, Carol Ann Rasmussen!

Carol Ann Schlauch Rasmussen resides in Cedaredge, Colorado where she creates hand-built sculptures, and paints beautiful landscapes in her own style using alcohol inks.  Since moving to Colorado, Carol Ann has participated in many exhibitions and now displays her artwork in galleries around the United States.

Carol Ann studied under several well-known artists. At the University of Montana, Rudy Audio recognized her passion and talent for color, and encouraged her to continue to develop her love of color.  While raising her family she continued to study art, including the psychology of color.  Her many canvases reflect her prior knowledge and current discoveries to produce brilliant hues that distinguishes her work along with the best.

After a tragedy in her life Carol Ann put her art aside for a few years.  Under the tutelage of Daphna Russell, she regained her sparkle and developed a sculpture style that is uniquely Carol Ann.  Once again, she applied her prior art knowledge of color and clay to represent her own style.

She was introduced to a unique style of painting in North Carolina.  This medium allowed her to fully express her bold passion for color and design.  Alcohol ink works in a very fluid manner inspiring her to develop her own techniques and through a lot of determination and experimentation she has developed the control necessary to create paintings with striking color and detail.

Carol Ann now travels to teach these unique methods in various workshops.  Her classes are conducive to both beginning and professional artists.  She can be contacted to arrange a workshop in your area.

Carol Ann was requested to do a TEDX Talk in Grand Junction Colorado in 2018.  It can be viewed on YouTube: “So You Think You Can’t Paint” by Carol Ann Rasmussen.

Her original works are done with alcohol inks on yupo paper.  Each Giclee print is produced on a twelve-color canon fine art printer, using canon lucia pigment inks.

She is listed in the International Directory of Artists: www.askart.com: Carol Ann Rasmussen – Biography (askart.com)
